This family is near and dear to me, so I was so honored to capture their newborn session for their newest addition, Baby Patrick! Patrick is so cute, and napped sweetly for the majority of his time with me. Big sister Lily was a doll too, and had the cutest little smile for her pictures. Patrick posed with his dad’s hat and dog tags from his time serving in the Middle East, as well as highlighted some of his dad’s interests like fishing with the most adorable little crocheted fishing outfit. Patrick is going to have such fun exploring the outdoors with his dad!
Kelly & Bennett - Family Photography
We are slowly creeping back into the warm weather! Nights are longer, and Golden Hours are upon us! I love doing outdoor photo shoots, and this one with Kelly and Bennett was my first of 2019. It is best to do outdoor photography early in the morning or an hour before sunset. Contrary to what one may think, a sunny day is not ideal for photography, and the mid-day hours aren’t either. I met Kelly and Bennett in the morning to capture a few “mommy & me” style shots to commemorate the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. The love these two have for one another was evident through their smiles.
Siddh - Newborn Photography
Siddh (and big brother Aadi) were so sweet for their session in their beautiful home. For these types of sessions, I like to capture some candid shots in black and white, as I always feel they truly show the details of the newborn days the best. Siddh (pronounced like Crosby) was alert and pleasant, giving his parents smiles, and just taking it all in. What a cutie!
Cameron James - Newborn Photography
Baby Cameron came a little bit earlier than expected, but this little guy is so strong! He was wide awake for most of his session, smiling and kicking! After a brief NICU stay, I could tell he was happy to be home with Mommy and Daddy. What a sweet, little guy. Welcome to the world, Cameron!
Stella Avery - Newborn Photography
I didn’t even know that Stella was a redhead when I decided to wrap green eucalyptus around a bucket for her newborn session. After seeing her next to it, I realized how perfectly it went with her red hair, as it resembles shamrocks. She was such a perfect angel for her session! After settling in and finding her comfy spot, she slept soundly. What a pleasure it was to meet her!
Ella is One! - First Birthday Photography
I first met Ella when she was still in her mommy’s tummy. It has been such a pleasure to watch her grow from bump, to newborn, to baby, to one-year-old! She served many different looks for her First Birthday Session. She was a boho beauty, pretty in pearls, and precious in her party hat! I love when parents bring a variety of looks to play with for portrait sessions. It makes the pictures so diverse, and gives us a chance to showcase different styles.
Happy Birthday, Sweet Ella!
Ashley - Maternity Photography
Ashley and Sean had an amazing maternity session. I love all the candid shots, especially when we captured the joy on their faces while feeling some baby kicks. The posed shots were equally as stunning - I just love a black & white maternity silhouette. What a photogenic couple!
Kate is One! - First Birthday Photography
Baby Kate was taking everything in at her birthday session. She was serious and sweet, but that can make for some gorgeous photos - I mean, look at those big baby blues! She looked right into the camera, and was dressed perfectly, which was no surprise since her parents are two of the best-dressed people I know! Happy Birthday (next month), Sweet Girl!
Amita - Maternity Photography
Amita was simply stunning in red for her maternity session. I actually wore the same dress (but in blue) for my own maternity session last May, so I’m obviously a fan of her choice! Simple solid dresses look amazing on pregnant women as they highlight the bump and photograph beautifully. I love the pop of color against the simplistic beauty of the studio, as well.
It was a pleasure to meet Amita, and photograph the natural joy on her face when she looked at her bump and her cute little boy. Can’t wait to meet baby boy #2 in a few weeks!
Emma is Three! - Child Portrait Photography
Miss Emma is Miss Personality! She is so sweet, and her adorable smile is effortless in front of the camera. I’ve enjoyed photographing her over the past year, and was so excited to also capture a few mommy and daughter shots in this session. “Mommy & Me” portraits always turn out beautifully, as there is no love stronger than that of a parent for their child. That joy always seems to radiate through.
Happy 3rd Birthday, Emma!
Wesley Scott - Newborn Photography
After every storm, there is a rainbow. Wesley Scott is that rainbow for his family. After having their first child, Wesley’s mommy and daddy dealt with devastating infant loss, but came out bravely on the other side. The clouds began to lift, and they discovered they were expecting again - this time with sweet baby Wesley.
Wesley’s mommy and daddy were so strong to share this story with me, and request a rainbow portrait for their “Rainbow Baby;” which is a common term for a baby born after a loss. I thank them for sharing this story with me, and also for allowing me to capture such an amazing moment in their family. I met them two years ago when I photographed their first newborn, and it’s been a pleasure getting to know them.
Wesley’s mommy is a leader in our local community. She is such an example of maternal strength, in more ways than one. I wish her, and their entire family all the best, and hope to see them again soon!
Dominic is Six Months! - Baby Photography
So right before the hustle and bustle of Christmas, my baby turned six months. Half a year already! Such a great time to get pictures while they’re old enough to smile and pose, but not old enough to get away from the camera!
People always say that I must have such amazing pictures of my own children since I’m a photographer. Well the truth is, just like any mom…I often forget to take pictures of their milestones. So with the busyness of Christmas upon us, I realized that I hadn’t planned anything cute or creative for Dominic’s six month photos - something that should be documented! My quick fix was a simple, white onesie, the furry blanket I use for all his monthly pictures, and the backdrop of…well…our play room. What you can’t see in the pictures are toys scattered everywhere.
It was actually a good exercise to use only natural window light and play with my cameras manual settings.
Thought I’d finally get around to sharing these since he’ll be turning seven months in just a few days. haha!
Harper is One! - First Birthday Photography
It was a Winter ONE-derland with Harper in the studio! The (almost) New Years baby was pretty in her pink tutu fit for the tiniest sugar plum fairy. She is so darling! I’ve enjoyed photographing her brother for the past few years, and am happy to add her to my cute clientele. Happy Birthday, Sweetie!
Jameson and Grayson - Newborn Photography
Big brother Jameson’s greatest gift of Christmas is certainly his new little brother Grayson, welcomed just before the holidays. What a special time for this family. These two little guys were so cute and picture perfect for their in-home session - I love the jammies and Santa hats!
Gavin - Newborn Photography
Sweet Baby Gavin didn’t want to miss Christmas, so he came 17 days early and surprised his family who was in the midst of moving! This year may have been too chaotic for them to decorate their new house for Christmas, but it will certainly go down as their best Christmas ever as they received the most precious gift of their baby boy! Welcome to the world, Gavin!
Cameron & Natalie are One! - First Birthday Photography
I absolutely love this creative theme of a “Twinter Onederland” for Cameron and Natalie’s First! They will celebrate one year in December, and had a dazzling winter themed session in the studio with big sister Kendall too! It’s been a joy watching them grow up this year!
A Small Business Thank You
All of us can point to moments in our lives where we were at a crossroads. I remember the exact moment when I made the decision to pursue photography as a hobby and profession. I was sitting at the dinner table with my husband, exhausted from a long day of working in my office with no windows (a converted closet space) and a long commute home in the dark.
I remember the words sitting on my tongue. I nearly swallowed them with my dinner, but instead decided to let them out. “I wish I could take pictures for a living,” I said. You see, I had no formal training. The only thing I had going for me was an innate artistic ability, and a creative drive that I had been suppressing. “So do it!” my husband replied. He knew I had been unhappy at work, and struggling to balance my new role as a mom. My husband is very efficient and determined, so the moment I said this he began to construct a business plan with me. I started keeping a notebook of business ideas. In the weeks following, we purchased some camera equipment online and I began teaching myself to shoot in manual mode and edit my photos. I took some photos of friends’ babies, and began to build a small portfolio for what would be my website. I then cut the cord, and quit my job. A job I had once loved, but was no longer working for me.
Slowly but surely, I launched the business with help from my husband (an IT professional and finance guru). That was three and a half years ago, and I am so thankful that I took that leap of faith. I am grateful to my husband and friends for supporting me, and the many clients who have trusted me to preserve their family memories through photographs.
God works in mysterious ways. Along with my new business endeavor came some obstacles in my son’s life. God was calling me to be home with my little boy, and because of the freedom that came along with owning my small business, I was able to do so. Then in late 2017, we were blessed with an answered prayer as I found out I was pregnant again. In June 2018 I welcomed a second son, and was able to take three wonderful months off to focus on my family, all thanks to the freedom of owning a small business.
God continued to open doors for my business when I met another local mom/photographer who connected me to an amazing opportunity to rent a studio! Until this past October, I had been operating out of my home, and with a new baby in the house, I was strongly considering ending that part of my business and only doing on-location photography. I prayed about it, and just like that, the timing was right - Cute Moose Photography now has a home in Studio Bevy with three other talented photographers. I am so thankful for this opportunity; one that I didn’t think was financially possible for me at this point in time.
The business simply would not exist without customers, so as a “thank you” in honor of Small Business Saturday, I will be giving away a FREE Family Mini Session redeemable any time in 2019! Here’s what you have to do to enter:

Thank you to each and every one of you who have supported my business in any way. I appreciate it so much. God bless you and your families this holiday season and beyond!
The P Family - Family Portrait Photography
So many families request fall foliage pictures, but so few of them actually get to fulfill that request. It took the leaves forever to change this year, and when they finally did, the weekends were rainy and frigid. This family lucked out and actually got a few minutes to play in the leaves during their session, and oh what beautiful vibrant yellow leaves they were!
This was also my first time photographing a dog in the family portrait. Gus the dog did a great job, as did his beautiful, loving family!
The D Family - Family Portrait Photography
Skylar is just the cutest! She was so smiley and content with her little leaf. It’s so cute to watch babies marvel at the simplest things as they see our world for the first time. She played sweetly enjoying her first Fall. I hope her parents can cherish these pictures forever.
The M Family - Family Portrait Photography
Such a beautiful and bright family picture! I could tell right away this family is full of love and laughter. Their beautiful children are at the perfect ages to have a super fun holiday season, too! May they enjoy every moment!
